Mexican Real Estate & Foreign Investment Attorney
Foreign nationals can own property anywhere in Mexico — including the coastal “restricted zone” — but the path runs through Mexican law, in Spanish, with steps that either protect you or expose you depending on how they are handled. Lozano & Associates is a cross-border real estate and foreign-investment law firm that structures, protects and — when a matter is challenged — defends the interests of U.S., Canadian and international clients, from acquisition and compliance to disputes and litigation along the Guerrero coast and throughout Mexico’s restricted zone.
Who we represent
- Foreign buyers of homes, second homes and vacation property
- Investors acquiring rental, income or development real estate
- Owners and sellers structuring an exit, succession or transfer
- Clients facing a dispute, claim or litigation over property, title or a trust
- Cross-border clients who need their own counsel — independent of the seller, the broker and the Notario
Our services
- Fideicomiso (bank trust) structuring — establishing, transferring and renewing the trust that lets foreigners hold restricted-zone property.
- Foreign investment compliance — Mexican-company ownership where it fits, your RFC, and the filings your transaction requires.
- Due diligence & closing — title, encumbrances, ejido land status and permits, with the purchase documented and paid directly to the registered seller of record.
- Litigation & dispute resolution — representation and defense before Mexican courts and authorities at any judicial instance.
When a matter becomes contentious
When a transaction, title or trust is disputed, we represent and defend our clients before Mexican courts and authorities at any judicial instance — from negotiation and precautionary measures to trial and appeal — applying the same command of cross-border structure that prevents these conflicts in the first place.
Why you need your own attorney
In Mexico, neither the broker nor the Notario Público is your lawyer. The broker works to close the sale; the Notario Público authenticates and records the transaction but represents neither buyer nor seller. Only independent counsel reviews the deal in your interest — the structure, the due diligence, the contract and the closing. That gap is where foreign buyers are most often exposed.
How we work
- Consultation — we map your goal, the property and the right structure.
- Due diligence — title, status and risk, in writing.
- Structure & contract — fideicomiso or company, terms negotiated and documented.
- Closing & registry — coordinated with the Notario, recorded, and delivered to you.
- Representation & defense — if a matter is later challenged, we represent and defend you before the courts and authorities, at any instance.
Where we work
Based in Zihuatanejo–Ixtapa, Guerrero, we serve clients along the Pacific coast and across Mexico’s restricted zone and interior.
